The star of the evening was undoubtedly Elisabeth Strid as the fairy Ada.‘ Opernglas. Strid started her international career 2010 at the Norwegian National Opera Oslo as ELISABETH in Stefan Herheim’s Tannhäuser production.

Since then, Elisabeth Strid has sung this very role at the Semperopera Dresden, the Rhine Opera Dusseldorf-Duisburg and at the Festival in Tampere.
Bayreuth Festival
At the Bayreuth Festival 2013 she made her debut as FREIA in ‘Das Rheingold’, a role she had before sung at the Leipzig Opera House. As SIEGLINDE in ‚Die Walküre’ she could be seen at the Rhine Opera Dusseldorf-Duisburg and at the Latvian National Opera in Riga. In Riga, the 2014 Capital of Culture, she also sang GUTRUNE in ‚Götterdämmerung’ and IRENE in ‘Rienzi’. At the Opera House Leipzig she earned much acclaim as ADA in ‘Die Feen’.
America
Her successful America debut she made 2013 with SENTA in ‚Der Fliegende Holländer’ at the Michigan Opera Detroit.
Rusalka
One of the artist’s most-sung roles is RUSALKA, a role with which she achieved particular successes at the Helsinki National Opera, the Teatro de Bellas Artes in Mexico and at the Capetown Opera in South Africa. Already in 2006, her portrayal of Rusalka was nominated by the Swedish magazine ‘Opera’ for the Opera Award. In autumn 2012, she succeeded in this very role at the Gotenburg Opera. Besides, she impressed in the Puccini operas ‘Madama Butterfly’ as CHO-CHO-SAN and ‘Il Tabarro’ as GIORGETTA at the Helsinki National Opera.
Education
The Swedish born singer studied singing at the Stockholm University and graduated here in 2004. Already during her studies, the young soprano made her debut at the Vastena Academy as ‚Brygitta’, in Carl Unander Scharin’s opera, which he had composed in 2003. In the same year, she sang ANTONIA in ‚Les Contes d’Hoffmann’ at the Royal Opera Stockholm. Among her first roles there are also parts like MUSETTA in ‚La Bohème’ (performed at the Malmö Opera House) and ELLEN in ‚ Peter Grimes’.
Concerts
Elisabet Strid made her debut as a concert singer with the Swedish Radio Orchestra (Francis Poulenc ‚Gloria’). She performed Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder with the OFUNAM-Orchestra in Mexico-City, GUTRUNE in ‘Götterdämmerung’ with the Gothenborg Philharmonic Orchestra and the 9th Symphony with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and the Stockholm Symphony Orchestra (under Lorin Maazel).

Besides, Elisabet Strid works with renowned conductors and stage directors such as Andris Nelsons, Cornelius Meister, Axel Kober, Ivan Anguélov, Ulf Schirmer, Kent Nagano, Frank Castorf, Barbe&Doucet…
In 2015 Elisabet Strid makes her debut as BRÜNNHILDE in ‘Siegfried’ at the Leipzig Opera. She is SENTA at the Budapest Wagner Days (musical direction Ádám Fischer) and returns as SENTA to the Rhine Opera Dusseldorf-Duisburg. Verdi’s Requiem she will perform in Malmö and Düsseldorf.
Future engagements
Future engagements bring the artist a.o. as CHRYSOTHEMIS to the Helsinki National Opera in the famous production of Patrice Chéreau, as NYSSIA in ‘King Kandaules’ to the Flemish Opera Antwerp, as SALOME to the Opera House Leipzig and as SIEGLINDE back tot he Rhine Opera Dusseldorf-Duisburg and to the Lyric Opera Chicago.
