The tenor Endrik Wottrich was born in Celle and had his vocal training under Ingeborg Hallstein in Würzburg, continuing his studies in 1990 with Daniel Ferro at the Juilliard School in New York. He made his stage début in 1992 as Cassio in Verdi’s Otello at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, before joining the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin in 1993. He appeared at theatres in Amsterdam, Dresden, Stuttgart, and Wiesbaden, and at the Vienna State Opera, followed, among other engagements, by appearances at La Scala, Milan, and Covent Garden in London, where he made his début in 2007 as Florestan (Fidelio). In 1996 he made his début as David (Die Meistersinger) in Bayreuth, returning in 2001 to sing Walther von Stolzing and in 2003 Erik (Der fliegende Holländer), followed in 2004 by Parsifal and Siegmund in 2008, with Max (Der Freischütz) in Paris and with Harnoncourt and the Berlin Philharmonic also in an award-winning recording. His career has brought appearances in the concert hall with leading orchestras and conductors, with collaboration in a distinguished series of recordings.
