Ermonela Jaho sopran från Albanien

Ermonela Jaho är född i Albanien där hon började studera sång vid 6 års ålder. Efter avslutade studier i Tirana flyttade hon till Italien där hon studerade vid Santa Cecilia-akademien i Rom. Hon vann sedan åtskilliga tävlingar som Giacomo Puccini i Milano 1997, Spontini International i Ancona 1998, Zandonai i Rovereto 1999 och Wexford Festival 2000. Hon har framträtt på operascener som Royal Opera House i London, Metropolitan Opera i New York, Berliner Statsoper, Paris Champs-Elysees, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera de Marseille, Arena di Verona, Tatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro La Fenice, Theatre Capitoul de Toulouse etc.

Ermonela Jaho was born in Albania and began taking singing lessons at the age of six. After she had completed her vocal art studies in Tirana, she won the first prize in a singing competition which gave her the possibility to enroll at the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome where she completed her studies for singing, pianoforte and phoniatry. By winning further prizes like Puccini’s Competition, Milan in 1997, Ancona in 1998, Rovereto in 1999, and Wexford in 2000 the young soprano caught the attention of musical experts. Her performance of Violetta has been regarded by french critics as ‘a revelation’. Since then, performances have lead Ermonela Jaho to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala of Milano, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Berliner Staatsoper, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Opera Bastille, the Théatre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, NHK Opera in Japan, Theatre Liceu of Barcelona, Grand Theatre de Geneve, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, the Arena di Verona, the Theatre La Monnaie in Brussels, Bolshoi Theater in Moscow etc. Her repertoire comprises Violetta, Cio-Cio San, Suor Angelica, Anna Bolena, Manon Lescaut, Maria Stuarda, Mireille, Amina, Mimì, Giulietta and many more. Her rendition of Suor Angelica at the Royal Opera House in London which was released on the market in 2012 won the “Gramophone Awards 2013” – Winner Opera, International Opera Awards as the best DVD of 2013, Gramophone Magazine – DVD of the month October 2012, BBC Music Magazine – DVD choice September 2012, BBC Music Magazine Awards 2013 – DVD Finalist and “Diapason D’or”. The critics described her Angelica interpretation as ‘sublime … ethereal’ and ‘delivered with bone-shaking intensity’. Upcoming performances include Violetta at Sttasoper Wiener, Violetta at Teatro Real Madrid, Violetta at Bayerische Staatsoper, Cio-Cio San at Opera National de Paris, etc.

Her interpretations have been transmitted directly via many world renowned radio and television stations such as BBC 3, Mezzo Europe, ZDF Germany, Euronews, Sky Classic, RAI, etc. From her first debut until today audiences have been drawn by her artistic personality and ability to touch every soul through her singing.
