Giordani Bellincampi är född i Rom 1965 men har bott i Danmark sedan 1976. Han är utbildad på Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i bastrombon hos professor Mogens Andresen och i dirigering hos Jorma Panula. Bellincampi har haft en karriär som orkestermusiker i Det Kongelige Kapel, Sönderjyllands Symfoniorkester,Trondheims Symfoniorkester och Radions Big Band.

Giordano Bellincampi dirigent 1965-

I augusti 1994 debuterade han med Odense Symfoniorkester som därefter engagerade honom till sju konserter i januari 1995. Giordani Bellincampi har efter detta dirigerat samtliga danska orkestrar, symfonikerna i Helsingborg och Malmö samt orkestrar i Finland och Ryssland. Det fruktbara samarbetet med Sjaellands Symfoniorkester resulterade i att han blev utnämnd till orkesterns förste gästdirigent under en treårsperiod med start 1 januari 1997.

Från den 1 juni 1997 och under tre år är Giordano Bellincampi chefdirigent för Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, danskt musiklivs främsta avantgarde-ensemble. Med denna ensemble turnerade han i England i november 1997.

Debut i Aarhus

Våren 1997 debuterade Giordani Bellincampi som operadirigent på Den Jyske Opera i Lehars Greven av Luxemburg. Därefter blev han engagerad till Trollflöjten 1998 och Carmen och Don Giovanni 1999. 2000 debuterar han på Det Kongelige Teater med La Bohéme. Från oktober 2000 är Giordano Bellincampi chefdirigent för Själlands Symfoniorkester. I foråret 2005 blev han udnaevnt til operachef ved Den Jyske Opera i Århus

Rom

Giordano Bellincampi er født i Rom i 1965, men har boet i Danmark siden 1976. Han er uddannet pa Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i basbasun hos professor Mogens Andresen og i direktion hos Jorma Panula. Giordano Bellincampi har haft en aktiv karriere som orkestermusiker, og debutere som dirigent i 1994. Han har efterfølge,regelmæssigt dirigeret samtlige danske samt flere udenlandske orkestre, og er en periode som chefdirigent for Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen – dansk musiklivs førende avantgarde-ensemble – er han nu chefdirigent for Sjællands Symfoniorkester.

Jyske Opera

På Den Jydske Opera har han dirigeret Léhars Greven af Luxembourg Mozarts Don Juan. 1999 dirigerede han Leoncavallos Bajadser på Malmö Musikteater, og i foråret 2000 havde han sin debut på Det Kongelige Teater med Puccinis La Boheme. Giordano Bellincampi har allerede indspillet adskillige cd’er, og han modtog alene i 1998 hele tre priser; “Musikanmelderringens Kunstnerpris”, “Gladsaxe Musikpris” og “Franco-prisen” – sidstnævnte på grund af “et usædvanligt musikalsk og kunstnerisk talent, der har gjort ham så bredt vellidt af solister, kor og orkestre”.

Har siden ’05 vaeret operachef for DJO, hvor han bl.a. har dirigeret Jaegerbruden (’07), Rigoletto (’07), Den flyvende Hollaender (’08), Pigen fra Vesten (’09) og senest La Traviata (’09). Debuterede på DKT i ’00 og har her dirigeret bl.a. Trubaduren og Aida. Han dirigerer regelmaessigt samtlige danske samt förende europeiske amerikanske og asiatiske orkestre. I denne saeson dirigerer han hele tre nyproduktioner af Puccinioperaer – La Boheme på Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Manon Lescaut på DJO og Madama Butterfly på DKT.

Operachef

Siden ’05 operachef for DJO. Her har han dirigeret Greven af Luxemburg, Tryllefløjten, Carmen, Don Juan Tosca Madama Butterfly, La Boheme, Falstaff, Rosenkavaleren samt Jægerbruden. På DKT har han dirigeret La Bohème, Manon Lescaut, Ikon, La Traviata, Trubaduren, Aida, Madama Butterfly og Tosca.

I ’05 debut ved Deutsche Oper m Rhein med La Boheme og i ’06 på Cincinnati Opera med Tosca. Han dirigerer regelmæssigt samtlige danske samt førende europæiske, amerikanske og asiatiske orkestre.

Giordano Bellincampi (born 1965) is an Italian-born Danish conductor and trombonist. He is the Music Director of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Previous position have included General Music Director of the Duisburg Philharmonic, Chief Conductor of the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, General Music Director of the Danish National Opera in Aarhus and chief conductor of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Early life and education

Giordani Bellincampi was born in Rome in 1965. In 1976 he moved to Denmark with his family.  He was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen where he studied both the bass trombone and conducting, the latter under famous Finnish conductor Jorma Panula among others.  He started out as an orchestra musician in the Royal Danish Orchestra.

Conducting of classical music

Giordani Bellincampi made his debut as a conductor in August 1994 with the Odense Symphony Orchestra. Since then he has been a regular guest conductor with all the Danish symphony orchestras. From 1997 to 2000 he was chief conductor of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, a leading Danish avantgarde ensemble, as well as Principal Guest Conductor of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2000 he became Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Copenhagen Philharmonic, a position he held until 2005.

Conducting of opera

In 2005 Giordani Bellincampi was appointed as the artistic director of the Danish National Opera in Aarhus where he had made his debut as an opera conductor with Der Graf von Luxemburg and continued to work regularly.

In 2000 he had his debut with the Royal Danish Opera, conducting La bohème at the Royal Danish Theatre’s Old Stage. His work with the Royal Danish Opera since then has included conducting all of Puccini’s operas as well as several other main works, including Aida for the inauguration of the new Copenhagen Opera House in 2005.

In 2008 Giordani Bellincampi’s contract with the Danish National Opera, otherwise running until 2010, was extended until 2013  In Aarhus he has also conducted a numerous concerts and collaborated with leading international names such as Angela Gheorghiu, Joseph Calleja, Antonello Palombi and Bryn Terfel as well as regularly worked with soloists such as Sarah Chang and Grigorij Sokolov.

International work

Giordani Bellincampi has increasingly worked internationally, conducting in North America, Asia, Europe and New Zealand. Orchestras he has worked with outside of Denmark include the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, the Royal Flanders Philharmonic, I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra in Seoul, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in New Zealand.
