Kelly Cae Hogan sopran från Amerika
Ms. Hogan’s 2014/15 season starts with Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Metropolitan Opera, continues with Salome for Virginia Opera, and a return to Kassel, Germany for Turandot. Last season included a Wagner concert of excerpts from Tristan und Isolde with the Anchorage Symphony and another role debut, singing Lady Macbeth in the Verdi opera in her return to Opera North in Leeds. In February 2016 Ms. Hogan will sing the Verdi Requiem with South Dakota Symphony, and she looks forward to singing Brünnhilde in Wagner’s Ring with Opera North in Leeds, London’s Southbank, Sage Gateshead, Nottingham Royal, and The Lowry – Salford Quays spring of 2016.
At the Metropolitan Opera Ms. Hogan sang in the premiere of the Robert LePage production of Die Walküre conducted by James Levine, and returned in subsequent seasons for performances with Maestro Fabio Luisi. Other recent Met appearances include the acclaimed Patrice Chereau staging of Janáček’s From the House of the Dead conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, as well as Gerhilde in the historic Otto Schenk Die Walküre conducted by James Levine, Lorin Maazel and Donald Runnicles.
A popular portrayer of Strauss’ Salome, Ms. Hogan has sung the role with The Polish National Opera, Bremen Opera (Germany), Florentine Opera, Opera Company of North Carolina, Lyric Opera of Kansas City among others, as well as performing the role on tour throughout Japan. Kelly also reprised this favorite role in her company debut with The Portland Opera (Oregon) in November last year.
Other recent performances for Ms. Hogan have included a return to Virginia Opera as Strauss’Salome and Blanche in Andre Previn’s A Streetcar Named Desire, new productions of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk,Tannhäuser, and Fideliowith Staatstheater Kassel,Norma, Nabucco, Salome , and her first Marschallin inDer Rosenkavalier in Bremen, Tosca in Weimar and Puerto Rico, and Turandot in both Kiel and Bremen, as well as her first Elisabeth in Tannhäuser and her first Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer in Schwerin. Recent concert performances include Barber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915″ and the “Liebestod” from Tristan und Isoldewith the Syracuse Symphony and the “Verdi Requiem” with the Fairfield Chorale and Orchestra.
In the U.S., Ms. Hogan has worked with companies such as Washington Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Portland Opera, Cleveland Opera, Nashville Opera, Kansas City Opera, Baltimore Opera, Utah Opera, Birmingham and Florentine Opera among others. On the concert stage, she has sung with the Dallas Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Trenton Symphony, Maine Pro Musica, Romanian Philharmonic, Orquesta Nacional de Costa Rica and Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice.
A native of Iowa, Ms. Hogan was a winner of the American Opera Auditions and a New York winner of the MacAllister Awards. As a winner of the Liederkranz competition she sang a debut concert in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. She and her husband have homes in Lower Manhattan and South Carolina.
