Maria Keohane: 2014 års Jussi Björling-stipendium på 100.000 kronor delas av sopranen Maria Keohane och tenoren Anders Jerker Dahlin. Stipendiet delades ut av Gunnar Lundberg och Magnus Kyhle från Stiftelsen Kungliga Teaterns Solister, som förvaltar Jussi Björlings minnesfond, i samband med att stipendiaterna gav en gemensam konsert i Stora Tuna kyrka. Sedan 2009 bidrar Anders Walls Stiftelse med stipendiesumman.

Enligt statuterna ska Jussi Björling-stipendiet vart tredje år gå till sångare med anknytning till Dalarna och stipendiekonserten hållas i Jussi Björlings hemkyrka i Stora Tuna, där han också är begravd. Maria Keohane (f. 1971) från Smedjebacken och Anders Jerker Dahlin (f. 1975) från Leksand studerade samtidigt vid Musikkonservatoriet i Falun på 1990-talet och är idag internationellt etablerade opera- och konsertsångare. De har båda en bred repertoar som spänner över flera musikstilar, men med barockmusiken som särskild specialitet.

Maria Keohane is a Swedish soprano whose repertoire spans a wide spectrum of music styles from baroque to contemporary, including chamber music, opera and oratorios.
Claudio Monteverdi
She has, for example, performed in Claudio Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria (Melanto, Giunóne) with Gothenburg Theatre, Peri’s Euridice (Proserpina/L’altra Ninfa) with Drottningholm’s Court Theatre in Stockholm, and in Verdi’s Don Carlos (Tebaldo) with The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. Other venues she has performed at include Tanglewood, Concertgebouw and Halle Händel Festspiele.
Oratorio
Maria Keohane is frequently engaged as an oratorio soloist and has performed with several well-known conductors, such as Jerome Coreas, Eric Ericson, Martin Gester, Roy Goodman, Gustav Leonhardt, Jakob Lindberg, Andrew Manze, Nicholas McGegan, Lars-Ulrik Mortensen, Andrew Parrott, Stephen Stubbs, Jos van Veldhoven, Arnold Östman and Christopher Warren-Green.
CD:s
Maria has recorded several cd:s, for example together with the baroque trumpeter Niklas Eklund (Naxos, The Art of the Baroque Trumpet, vol. 5) and together with the ensemble” Folkmusik I Frack” with folklore music and Dowland. She has also participated in television- and broadcasting productions.
At the International Van Wassenaer Concourse in 2000 she received an award as the most promising individual musician, and she has also been honoured several times by The Royal Swedish Academy of Music. 2005 she got the Reumert Price for her part as Armida in Händels Rinaldo.
Requiem
In the autumn 2009 Maria Keohane sang Brahms’ Requiem at the Gothenburg Concert hall, Faure’s Requiem in Örebro Concert Hall and Handel’s Messiah at the Stockholm Cathedral. Recent and upcoming events include tours in Japan, Europe and in Scandinavia with Concerto Copenhagen, Ricecar Consort, European Union Baroque Orchestra and The Netherlands Bach Society, as well as performances of Bach’s Wedding Cantata with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco.
