Maxwell Rani, koreograf
Maxwell Rani has worked with companies all över the world and choreographed extensive works for Adzido-Africa in London and Child of the Soil for the EGweyn dance company in North Carolina, USA. He choreographed The Fire Bird for Cape Town City Ballet’s tour to China and Carmen, performed by the University of Cape Town School of Dance, in Cape Town. He also choreographed Marthinus Bassons Misa La Rosa and Tango del Fuego, several productions for CAFDA Dance Company, the Miss Namibia 2005 pageant, Woman of the Year for SABC television and Amahl and the Night Visitors for Cape Town Opera.
Other works include The Untold Stories of the Township Women and The Wandering Souls of Mendi and the dance movements for Cape Town Opera’s Treemonisha, which was staged at Artscape and in La Turbie, France. Born in Nyanga, Cape Town, he graduated at the University of Cape Town with a B.Mus. Honours degree in 2001. He has taught African dance/Afro-Fusion in Canada, France, Britain, USA and Namibia and currently lectures in African dance and teaching method at UCT.
