Michael Myers is a versatile tenor who has performed with major opera companies throughout the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Santiago, Canada (Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton,), New York City Opera, Pittsburgh, Santa Fe, St. Louis, Seattle, Nice, Avignon, Wiesbaden and Stuttgart. His concert performances have included appearances with the Cincinnati May Festival with James Conlon, the Philadelphia Orchestra with Riccardo Muti (also at Carnegie Hall), Opéra de Lyon with John-Elliot Gardiner, the Minnesota Orchestra, and many performances with the Mostly Mozart Festival at New York’s Lincoln Center.

The 2007 – 2008 season saw Michael Myers at the Metropolitan Opera in the opening night production and high-definition broadcast of Lucia di Lammermoor as Normanno (also available on DVD), the Messenger in Aida, and the First Armed Man in Julie Taymor’s Die Zauberflöte He also participated in productions of The Gambler, War and Peace, and Macbeth. In subsequent seasons Mr. Myers returned to the Metropolitan Opera for more performances as Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor as well as War and Peace with the Canadian Opera Company.
Past operatic engagements for Michael Myers have included the title role of Peter Grimes in Nancy (France), Captain Vere in Billy Budd (Israel), Don José in Carmen in Bordeaux and Nancy, and the title role in the Les contes d’Hoffmann in Nancy, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor in Salt Lake City, Erik in Der fliegende Holländer in Bordeaux, Werther in Tel Aviv, and Of Mice and Men in Utah.
Mr. Myers was also seen as Don José in Carmen with the Utah Opera and the Connecticut Grand Opera and returned to the Washington Opera where he sang the role of the Podesta in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. Mr. Myers appeared in Brussels as Soliman in Zaide with Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, as Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress at the Teatro Real in Madrid, as the Painter/the Negro in Lulu with the Danish Radio Symphony in Copenhagen, which was subsequently recorded. He has also sung with the Washington Opera in the title role of Werther.
Other engagements have included the Cologne Opera as the Painter/the Negro in Lulu, the title role in Die Nase, the Holland Festival for the world premiere of the opera Esmée, the Lyric Opera of Chicago for Sam in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah and the Painter in Lulu, and the Metropolitan Opera as Cassio in Otello. He has also sung leading tenor roles in concert performances of Berio’s La vera storia with the BBC Symphony in London and in Max Brand’s Maschinist Hopkins at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam.
Mr. Myers’ extensive list of credits include his La Scala debut as Sir Huon of Bordeaux in performances of Oberon conducted by James Conlon, Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress at the La Monnaie in Brussels, concert performances of La damnation de Faust with the Orchestre
de Radio France conducted by Charles Dutoit, and earlier staged concert performances and recording (EMI) of the same work with John-Elliot Gardiner at the Chatelet in Paris, and an additional recording (Philips) with the Opéra de Lyon, Prince Andrei in Khovanschina, the Painter in Lulu at the San Francisco Opera, and the title role of Peter Grimes in Montpellier.
