The Danish bass Per Bach Nissen is a principal at Hanover State Opera. The 2012/13 season included Boris in “Lady Macbeth from Mzensk”, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Pogner in Meistersinger (NDR Radio Live 08.06.13) and Gran Inquisitore in Don Carlos. Guest performances included Rocco with Michigan Opera in April (Live WRCJ 90.9), and in August, Hagen and Fafner in a shortened version of Der Ring des Niebelungen in Copenhagen.

2013/14 continues with Sarastro, Theseus, Gremin, Pogner and Gran Inquisitore in Hannover and in 2014/15 Per will make his debut at The Royal Danish Opera as Sacristano.

Per Bach Nissen made his U.S. debut at The Opera Company of Philadelphia in 2012 as Osmin. 2010/11/12 included Dr. Bartolo at The Concertgebouw with Opera Zuid, Osmin at Teatro Comunale di Treviso. During this period Per also performed with The Stuttgart Philharmonics and sang Lothario (Mignon) and Bürgermeister (Preussisches Märchen) at Schleswig Holsteinisches Landestheater.

2007 to 2010 he was a principal artist at Theater Augsburg where he established his repertoire including Rocco, Raimondo, Sarastro, Basilio, Gran Inquisitore, Osmin, Goldhändler, Pluto and Van Bett. The first principal engagements took him to Das Mecklenburgische Staatstheater and the Schlossfestspiele, Schwerin where he sang Sarastro, Colline, Seneca, Don Alfonso, Commendattore, Hagen Götterdämmerung, and Ferrando Trovatore.

Per studies with Robert Lloyd and made his debut as Zuniga at The Linbury Studio, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
