Magne Fremmerlid har sin utdannelse bl.a. hos sangpedagogene Ingrid Bjoner og Eva Blahova.Ved Nasjonaloperaen har han sunget viktige roller i operor som Tosca, Barberen i Sevilla, Carmen, Trylleflöjten, Figaros Bryllop, La Bohème, Olav Trygvason, Don Giovanni, Lohengrin, Verdis Rigoletto, Spar Dame,Trubaduren, Manon Lescaut, Fidelio, Rhingullet, Götterdämmerung, Maskeballet, Rusalka och Tannhäuser. Nu senast i Lohengrin.

Since 1997 he is engaged at the Norwegian National Opera. Other recent opera engagements have included Tierbändiger/Athlet/Theaterdirektor in Lulu at the Royal Danish Opera, Ferrando in Il Trovatore and Talbot in Maria Stuarda at the opera in Kristiansund, Calchas in La belle Helene in Sandnes, Zaccarias in Nabucco at the Ringsaker Opera and Nurnemi in the world premier of Trygve Madsen’s opera Circus Terra at the State Opera in Prague.

His vast repertoire includes Verdi’s Requiem, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Dvorak’s Mass in D and Stabat Mater, Mendelsohn’s Elijah, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Bach’s Mass in b minor, Magnificat, St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion, Mass in G, Wachet Auf and Christmas Oratorio, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Mass in c minor and Requiem, Handel’s Messiah (more than 80 times), Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Harmonienmesse, Paukenmesse and The Seasons, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle and Stabat Mater, Faure’s Requiem and Duruflè’s Requiem.

Engagements in 2013 included Gurnemanz in Parsifal at the Theater Essen, Crespel and Luther in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Collatinus in The rape of Lucretia and Bonzo in Madama Butterfly at the Norwegian National Opera, Escamillo in Carmen with Opera South (Norway), Zaccaria in Nabucco with Opera Østfold (Norway), Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte in semi-staged performances with the conductor Fabio Biondi and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem in Stavanger.
