Sarah Pring - mezzosopran
British mezzo-soprano Sarah Pring made her Royal Opera debut in 1996 as Wellgunde (Götterdämmerung) and has since sung Madame Larina (Eugene Onegin), Lisa (Cyrano de Bergerac), Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Annina (La traviata) for The Royal Opera. She also created the role of Mrs Grantham (Ludd and Isis) for the Royal Opera House’s Learning and Participation department. In the 2015/16 Season she returns to sing Annina and Xenia’s Nurse (Boris Godunov) for The Royal Opera.
Pring studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the National Opera Studio. She began her professional career at Glyndebourne, where her roles have included Innkeeper’s Wife (The Cunning Little Vixen). She has performed for companies including English National Opera, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park, Opera North and Welsh National Opera, in such repertory as Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), La Marquise de Berkenfeld (La Fille du régiment), Mrs Alexander (Satyagraha), Marthe Schwertlein (Faust), Mother (Hänsel und Gretel), Mamma Lucia (Cavalleria rusticana), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) and Mary (Der fliegende Holländer).
Pring has sung in concert at venues including the Royal Festival Hall, the Purcell Room and St John’s Smith Square. She is a professor of singing at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the GSMD.
